Please see form sent home about ordering tshirts and hoodies. Orders are due by Wednesday. Happy Halloween! I hope you all have a fun, safe night!  This morning we did some writing about our opinion on whether or not candy is a good lunch. We wrote a sentence stating our opinion and then wrote three more sentences, sharing three different reasons that support our opinion! We made a bar graph, skip counting by 25's and recording the number of seeds in each of the pumpkins we carved last week. We talked about how a bar graph always has a title that answers a question, and two axis to help us understand what the graph is telling us. We also talked about the different information the bar graph can tell us. Ask me about our pumpkin seed bar graph.  This afternoon we made fall trees, using the seeds from our pumpkins.

No school tomorrow! See you on Monday. Halloween costumes are welcome but please see Mrs. Brinsons message about expectations.  Tomorrow is the last day to order Subway Lunch for next Wednesday.  School t-shirts and hoodies are on sale until Nov. 2nd. See Mrs. Brinsons message.  This morning we learned about the lifecycle of a pumpkin and drew one in our visual journals.  We did how many ways during math and had the option to challenge ourselves with a larger number: 60!  We talked about four different types of magnets and drew and labelled them in our visual journals! Ask me what the four types of magnets are!

We have 6 pumpkins in our classroom. If you would like a chance to have your name drawn to take one of them home, parents need to let their student know it is ok to put their name in the draw and also have arrangements to be picked up after school (we can't send pumpkins on the school bus or to Little Steps). Friday is the last day to sign up for Subway lunch, that is next Wednesday. Today we worked with our table groups to carve a pumpkin.  We decorated our classroom door for the Literacy Week door decorating contest. We made book covers.

Next Monday is Halloween. Please see Mrs. Brinsons weekly message about the expectations of this day.   Please submit fall activity photos before the 29th (again see details on Mrs. Brinsons message).  The last day to order next week's Subway fun lunch is this Friday, on Healthy Hunger.  This morning we labeled the parts of a closed pumpkin.  Later we opened and emptied the insides of the pumpkin. We decided making groups of 10 with the seeds was the best way to count them.  We predicted if our pumpkin would sink or float... THEY FLOAT.....and then watched a video about the Bay Of Fundy Pumpkin Races.

HAPPY DIWALI!! This morning we had pumpkins at our tables. We are excited to do lots of different pumpkin themed activities this week!  We started our morning by talking about adjectives, reading about adjectives and then using adjectives to describe the pumpkins at our tables. We made word pyramids with our describing words.  During math we estimated things about our pumpkins. We estimated how many blocks tall it is, using non- standard form of measurement. We estimated how round we think it would be, and then used string and a meter stick to measure in standard form. We estimated how much it weighs in kg and how many seeds we think will be inside when we open it up. We read the story "how many seeds in a pumpkin?" to help us make an estimate.
